About the Committee

The Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) governs approximately 70% of the United Nations’ human and financial resources, promoting it to a highly influential position today. The Economic and Social Council is at the heart of the United Nations system to advance the three dimensions of sustainable development – economic, social, and environmental. It is the central platform for fostering debate and innovative thinking, forging consensus on ways forward, and coordinating efforts to achieve internationally agreed goals. It is also responsible for the follow-up to major UN conferences and summits.

At ECOSOC, delegates shall represent one of the 54 member states. The Committee Chairs will lead the Committee's working procedure. Delegates in ECOSOC must write a position paper for the announced topics and submit it to the MUNIMUN Academic team. Position papers will be reviewed and scored by the Academic team and will significantly contribute to the final scores of delegates, upon which Committee awards will be based. Instructions on how to write the position paper are published on this website. Failure to follow these instructions or to meet the deadline for submitting the position papers will result in negative points for the position paper.

After setting the agenda, all delegates shall present their opening statements on the discussed topic. Once every delegate presents their opening statement, which must not exceed 1 minute, after which the formal debate will begin.

The main goal of the Committee is to adopt a Resolution. Every delegate shall read the General Rules of Procedure prior to the start of the MUNIMUN Conference for a further detailed description of the procedure.

Daniela Trujillo Villanueva

Hello everyone, and welcome to MUNIMUN 2024!
My name is Daniela Trujillo and I’m a full-time student of International

Relations and European Politics at Masaryk University. This is my sixth year doing Model UN! In the past, I’ve been a staff member in NHSMUN for three years in a row and delegate in models such as CWMUN, EUROPAMUN, HNMUN-Latin America, and many others!
Model UN has opened so many doors for me that, thanks to it,
I’m passionate about what I’m studying.
It has allowed me to develop many skills such as social interaction and public speaking, apart from being one of the best experiences of my time in high school at now Uni. I hope your time in
MUN can bring many opportunities for you to grow and learn as it did for me!
