We present new courses in the autumn semester: F7670 Žákovské pokusy and F7200 Moderní fyzika a její aplikace. Courses are guaranteed by the Department of Physical Electronics – Didactics of Physics section. These courses are listed for any field of study.
The course F7670, "Pupil Experiments," introduces students to the possibilities of preparing and carrying out physics experiments with simple or improvised tools. It is a practical course, especially beneficial to students of the teaching professions.
F7200 "Modern Physics and its Applications" aims to introduce students to the topics addressed by contemporary physics. Not only future physics teachers can learn how to explain theoretical and experimental issues at the interface between science and technology simply and understandably. The topics discussed are cosmology, general relativity, quantum entanglement and teleportation, nuclear fusion, nanotechnology, and ionizing radiation in medicine.
New courses introduced in the spring semester 2023 remains: F8131 Advanced dispersion models in thin film optics II and F7062 COMSOL Multiphysics basics, guaranteed by The Department of Physical Electronics.
Dr. Daniel Franta's course F8131 Advanced Dispersion Models in Thin Layer Optics II is offered only once every two years and is directly following the F8130 Advanced Dispersion Models in Thin Layer Optics I, which will be listed in the following spring semester 2024. Anyone can enroll, but basic knowledge of classical and quantum mechanics is assumed. A background in the fundamentals of solid-state physics is advisable. Students will learn about modern dispersion models that scientists from the Department of Physical Electronics developed within the Optics for Thin Films and Solid Surfaces research group and will gain a comprehensive insight into modern condensed matter theory with optical methods such as ellipsometry and spectrophotometry.
The course F7062 Fundamentals of Simulations in COMSOL Multiphysics is a joint creation of Prof. David Trunec and Dr. Adam Obrusník (Applied Plasmochemistry and Plasma Diagnostics and Modelling research groups of DPE). Are you interested in how to create a network, enter the equations and start simulating, for example, fluid flow, heat transfer, or electromagnetic fields? COMSOL Multiphysics is a good tool for numerical solutions to physics problems, not only for plasma physics. If you are interested in computer simulations, enroll in this course in the spring semester. Basic knowledge of physics is required.
