Concentrations of POPs in the air and other matrices are carriers of information on environmental pollution.
AIR
The largest part of the data in the GENASIS database is the concentrations of compounds measured in the ambient air.
The database contains both ad hoc measurements and long time series of samples that were colleced within the MONET and GAPS monitoring networks and analyzed in the same laboratory by the same or comparable analytical methods. Therefore, these are comparable values, thanks to which it is possible to analyze the long-term trend in the development of concentrations of measured compounds in the air.
MONET and GAPS monitoring networks use a passive sampling method for air sampling,
where the samplers are placed at the site for 4 weeks or 3 months.

and monitoring networks
The MONET monitoring networks are operated by RECETOX MU.
The largest number of sites is in the Czech Republic, data from this monitoring network are important for National POPs inventories.
Monitoring networks have also been set up in Europe and Africa for the Stockholm Convention.
The GAPS monitoring network is operated by Environment Canada. GAPS has sites spread across all continents.
Other important partners who visualize their data in the GENASIS database are:
- NILU (Norwegian Institute for Air Research)
- UNEP (United Nations Environment Programme)
- FURG (Universidade Federal do Rio Grande)
- LU (Lancaster University)
- UNC (Universidad Nacional de Colombia)
All data provided by all partners are harmonized before entering the data into DWH GENASIS, ie this data is processed so that it is comparable with each other.
SOIL
A significant part of the data in the GENASIS database consists of concentrations of compounds measured in soil.
The database contains both ad hoc measurements and long time series of values, which were taken within a number of projects, the solver of which was RECETOX MU. Concentrations were measured in the RECETOX trace laboratory by the same or comparable analytical methods.
Therefore, it is possible to analyze the long-term trend in the development of concentrations of measured compounds in the soil. The most important projects that are still ongoing include the Integrated Monitoring of Košetice and the monitoring of the Mokrá soil.
Another large-scale project, which was solved in the years 1994 to 2006, is the Zlínsko project. The partner that provided data from the Czech Republic to the visualization is ÚKZÚZ. These are samples that were taken at 237 localities in the years 1992 to 2013 and were used for probasic monitoring of POPs in soils.

WATER
The water matrix has been the second environmental matrix used for monitoring PFCs under the Global Monitoring Plan (GMP) since 2009. DWH contains both data analyzed within projects whose solver was RECETOX MU, as well as data collected for the purpose of reporting for GMP.
