The 18th EATS Conference is co-organised by Denisa Hilbertova and Magdaléna Rychetská

 

Denisa Hilbertova is a staff member at the Seminar of Chinese Studies since 2014. She is also a PhD Candidate in the Department of World History at Charles University in Prague. She graduated in the Asia-Pacific Studies at National Chengchi University in Taiwan, in History at Charles University and in International Relations at Metropolitan University in Prague. She focuses on 19 th century Taiwan in her research, specifically on British diaspora in Taiwan and Maritime trade.

 

Magdaléna Rychetská (b. Masláková) is a staff member at the Seminar of Chinese Studies and PhD Candidate in the Department for Study of Religions at the Masaryk University. She graduated in the Study of Religions (2015, Mgr.) and the Cultural Studies of China (2017, Bc.) at the Masaryk University in Brno, Czech Republic, and the China Studies at Zhejiang University (2019, M.A.). In her research, she is dedicated to the study of Christianity in Chinese societies. Her doctoral thesis titled Uneasy Encounters: Christian Churches in Authoritarian Regimes of China and Taiwan examines the dynamic processes of the various social, political and cultural negotiations that representatives of Christian groups engage in within authoritarian Chinese societies.
